Ginger - to tone, motivate, give strength

GINGER (Zingiber officinalis )
The Spanish introduced ginger to the West Indies in the 16th century, and today it is grown in tropical regions throughout the world.
Family: Zingiberaceae (ginger)
Source: The essential oil is obtained from the Roots.
Note: Base, Middle and Top (one of the few to have all three notes)
Fragrance: camphor, lemony, warm, peppery.

Why the focus on ginger:
Ginger is an essential oil that can truly stand on its own. It is a base, middle and top note. Ginger has strong benefits both on the physical and mental state. I think it is important to let specific essential oils have the spotlight and be who they are all on their own to truly establish a relationship with that essential oil.
Because ginger helps give one a sense of being capable and strong, I believe it is a perfect essential oil to work with when focusing on self-care and strengthening of body and mind. Ginger declares, "you can do it." Ginger will enhance one's vital fire boosting vitality and activating will power. Ginger's nature is to activate and restore self-determination.

In terms of ayurevedic medicine, I am Vatta, and so another reason for me to personally choose to work with ginger is its grounding capabilities which are critical to the Vatta dosha type. Also in terms of traditional Chinese medicine I tend to often have some "dampness" and the warming properties of Ginger are excellent for getting rid of the dampness. Ginger also promotes beneficial sweating, which helps eliminate toxins from the system.

On a physical level ginger relieves pain from sore muscles and stimulates circulation which makes it perfect for any kind of physical workout.
As the summer months for swimming and wearing shorts is upon us, I have decided to take some self care and work on toning my legs and stomach with the help of my friend Ginger.

The Ginger Leg and Tummy Fitness Rub Blend:
Adding the essential oil of ginger
to 1 ½ cups of grape seed oil
and ¼ cup jojoba oil
To be massaged on the legs and stomach prior to a leg and abdominal workout.
This is to be done once a day, adding a fresh drop of ginger to each daily use of the combined oils.
Observations:
After using the ginger leg and tummy fitness blend for a week I noticed
I was able to get a little more motivated to do some of the exercises, particularly squats and abdominal exercises.
I found myself motivated to clean the house (for those who know me this is odd.)
I added swimming a few times, which I love, but which I never seem to get motivated to do. However, using ginger I have been very motivated.
While I specifically added leg and abdominal exercise – I did not get sore. I had not put the oil on my arms and my arms were very sore after swimming. I then started using the ginger blendel d oil on my arms and the soreness went away
